Helmets R Us is
a small family owned and operated business.
John Daniele, started making and selling novelty
helmets in 1992 in the Daytona Beach area. At that time there were
less than a dozen novelty helmet shops in all of the US and they were all in Florida. Those few shops supplied the entire biker world with novelty
helmets.
Like any good thing they were eventually copied and manufactured
overseas.
Of course we couldn't compete with the near free labor of foreign
manufacturers and the continuing high costs of American made materials.
Little by little the local fiberglass shops couldn't survive and shut
down one by one.
In 1998 the HelmetsRus web site was created.
At first we only sold the
novelty helmets that we made and a lot of good quality airbrushed and even custom airbrushed novelty helmets. That lasted a few years until the demand for lower prices sucked the profit out of it and we were no longer able to continue to offer American hand made custom airbrushed novelty helmets.
Eventually we started offering name brand motorcycle helmets on
our web site along with many of the basic accessories.
We offer HJC motorcycle helmets. If you need protection
for your motorcycle we offer Dowco motorcycle covers.
We don't have a multi-line telephone answering system.
When you call and get switched to our voice mail we are either on the
phone with another customer or we are out of the office. If you leave a
message be sure to leave a number we can reach you at. Your best bet and quickest way to get a reply is to email us if you can.

"Everything you need to ride a motorcycle"
Biker's Choice is a brand name from Tucker Rocky. Skid Lid is a model of the Biker's Choice collection. Skid lid is also a
slang for helmet. Shorty is a style, like 3/4 open-face or half-helmet
or full-face helmet. Old
School Beanie is a shorty style made by Zox Helmets. The shorty
is a notch above a novelty
helmet which is not dot approved. The shorty
was developed for the rider who wanted a dot approved helmet yet wanted
something as small as a novelty
helmet.
Shorty
helmets just meet DOT standards, they provide protection as long as
when you crash you hit where the helmet covers. The best protection
other than a full-face helmet is a 3/4
helmet because it gives you full coverage. Shorty helmets are popular for style. The shorties we offer vary in strap, buckle, visor and shell construction. Most are polycarbonate shells to keep cost down.
The stronger shells are made of fiberglass, slightly higher in cost. Now one company is offering the shorty
helmet in carbon fiber which is the lightest weight and strongest construction and highest priced by 3 or 4 times the other shells. You get what you pay for. Also available for the shorty helmets are screw on shields.
